TS Environment has conducted ESIA study for exploratory drilling project, along the western shore of Lake Abaya in the rift basin area block for Africa Oil Ethiopia. The Main activities of the proposed ESIA Includes;

  • Preparation of the access roads to drilling site
  • Preparation of the rig sites and rig camp sites
  • Running rig camps to accommodate the rig crews
  • Mobilization of drilling rig and rig crew to drilling locations
  • Rigging up the drilling rig and drilling the wells
  • Well testing and well suspension
  • Waste disposal
  • Well abandonment, rigging down the drilling rig and restoration of the drilling location

RBS and Hydrology Baseline Assessment for Africa Oil Ethiopia

A rapid biodiversity assessment was made on July 2017 by TS Environment at sites G1, G2 and A2 of the African Oil Ethiopia (AOE) project site around Lake Abaya. The assessment was done with the aid of aerial reconnaissance with ground survey crew for ground-truthing. The Main activities of the proposed RBS and Hydrology Baseline Assessment Included;

  • To assess  some biodiversity attributes and ecosystem services of the project sites A2, G1-G2 and determine any potential risks and impacts that drilling operation may have on ecosystem structure and services;
  • To observe the human settlement and bio-physical characteristics of the project sites from the air and on ground and assess natural, modified and critical habitats; and
  • To point out possible issues for scoping and ESIA.

ESIA study has been conducted by TS Environment for Calub-Hilala Gas Gathering and Treatment operations and approved by Ministry of Mining. The project is located in Calub n Ethiopian Somali region.  The ESIA study focuses on different components of the project including: Mobilization

  • The Hilala-Calub gas transmission pipeline

ESIA Study of for Calub-Hilala Gas Drilling 2D Seismic Survey

ESIA study has been conducted by TS Environment for 2D seismic Project at Block 11 and 13 and Block 12 and 16    of Calub-Hilala location in Ethiopian Somali region.

The elements of seismic surveying which are discussed in the study comprises the following:

  • survey area
  • survey techniques;
  • survey preparation and access survey;
  • camp set up and logistics;
  • line survey and clearance;
  • seismic data acquisition;
  • ancillary operations; and
  • reinstatement.

Baseline Environmental Study for Corbetti Geothermal Project, Phase 1 Operations

TS Environment has provided competent personnel; adequate equipment and supplies for the delivery of the services to assist CGC meet its legal, environmental and social obligations for its operations in developing a geothermal project in Corbetti (Southern Ethiopia). The Main activities of the proposed Baseline Environmental Study include:

  • To fill Phase I baseline survey gaps in Biodiversity
  • To undertake consultation with local communities regarding sensitive/culturally significant flora and fauna.
  • To consult Senkelle sanctuary regarding the status of the sanctuary and obtain information on its history including human use prior to its creation and human encroachments subsequent to this, potential for movements from Senkelle within Corbetti area and risk of invasive species.
  • To collect information on the newly installed EEP transmission line in case this ultimately forms part of the project
  • To collect further information on the flora and fauna (including relevant information coming from consultation activities) to determine the ultimate requirement for additional survey, the potential for multi-season assessment and whether a rapid update to the impact assessment/determination of mitigations is required
